What happened to Zephyr Vaporizers?

We have had lots of questions regarding what happened to Zephyr Vaporizers.   The truth is, we don’t really know.   We had certainly hoped their ownership would have contacted us to discuss their situation but we have received no such contact.   We continue to hear more and more customers who have sent items to Zephyr and received nothing back.   This is very unfortunate.

Recently, the following text appeared on the Zephyr Web Site (www.zephyrvaporizers.com)

“Dear Customers and Zephyr Fans,

We write to inform you of an important matter regarding Zephyr Vaporizers. Recently, questions have been raised by government authorities about the appropriate uses of our product as well as similarly designed products from other manufacturers. Aromatherapy enthusiasts are well aware of the benefits of herbal remedies and the value of extracting the essential oils of herbs through vaporization as compared to ingestion. The Zephyr’s patented vaporization system, effective in releasing the flavors and active ingredients in a wide variety of spices and herbs, also lends itself to a variety of culinary applications. And given the myriad toxic substances found in tobacco smoke as a by-product of combustion, the Zephyr Vaporizer provides a beneficial smoke-free approach for tobacco users, one that may also aid in smoking cessation. We take pride in the quality of our product and are committed to ensuring that its manufacture and distribution be in conformity with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. We are working hard to address the concerns and questions raised by the government about our product. In the interim, and until we are assured that we can continue marketing the Zephyr in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, we have voluntarily elected to suspend temporarily operations at Zephyr. We will do our best to provide updates regarding the status of Zephyr Vaporizers, which did business as Hex BG and also appears to have similar ownership to vapenow.   We will be posting contact information for them shortly.

We’ve had a few questions regarding changing out old Arizer Bags.   Here’s a quick tutorial that should help changing your bag go quickly & hopefully easily!

Step 1:  Remove the o-rings from the mouthpiece and set aside.  Pull the bag way over the mouthpiece (the mouthpiece is inside the bag) then bunch up the bag to be as small as possible put one of the o-rings on the bag itself (with the mouthpiece inside the bag).

Step 2: Push the mouthpiece through the bag while holding the o-ring in place and slide the ring over the “hump” on the mouthpiece.    Fold that extra section of ballon back over the back of the mouthpiece and the other o-ring.

Step 3: Slide the second o-ring over both the mouthpiece and the other o-ring.   This is typically the toughest part and it’s nice to have something to grab the o-ring with.   Stir picks work well for us, but I I’d recommend something that’s not glass so there’s no chance for breakage.    When you’re done it should look like this with one o-ring in front of the “hump” on the mouthpiece and the other behind it:

Good news: The Zephyr Ion’s reliability has recently improved drastically over the summer! While we’ve struggled with manufacturing issues with Zephyr Vaporizers over the last year as demand has grown, things are looking up! Good Job Zephyr Vaporizers! Keep up the good work on the Ion. The new quality control measures on Ion production sure do make a difference and we were happy to see that Zephyr responded so proactively to feedback on their vaporizer. We believe that the Zephyr Ion vaporizer will be the fastest growing product of 2011. Now that they’ve figured out how to make a great tabletop without the defects, we’re all wondering when the Zephyr portable vaporizer will come out! Zephyr has yet to announce any plans for a portable vaporizer, but we’re sure it’s something they are working on. Stay tuned!
